OCHO NEGRO forms part of the eight-piece Bioceramic Royal Pop Collection, combining the distinctive architectural design language associated with Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak with the colourful, modular personality of Swatch’s original POP watches.

This model follows the traditional Lépine pocket-watch style, with its winding crown positioned at 12 o’clock. Its contrasting black and white design gives OCHO NEGRO one of the cleanest and most versatile appearances in the Royal Pop collection.

Black and White Lépine-Style Design

OCHO NEGRO features a black dial with a geometric tapisserie-style effect. This textured dial references one of the most recognisable visual characteristics associated with the Royal Oak design language.

The hands and hour markers are coated with Grade A Super-LumiNova®, producing a blue emission in low-light conditions and helping improve visibility of the time.

A contrasting white octagonal Bioceramic bezel surrounds the black dial. Eight black hexagonal Bioceramic screws are positioned around the bezel, creating a strong monochrome contrast.

The black Bioceramic crown is positioned at 12 o’clock, confirming OCHO NEGRO as one of the six Lépine-style Royal Pop models.

The watch combines a white Bioceramic case and holder with a black dial, crown and decorative screws. Vertically satin-finished surfaces add texture while retaining the smooth, lightweight character of Swatch Bioceramic.

Hand-Wound SISTEM51 Mechanical Movement

OCHO NEGRO is powered by a specially developed, hand-wound version of Swatch’s SISTEM51 mechanical movement. This is a manually wound mechanical watch and does not require a battery.

The watch must be wound using the crown to maintain operation. Its mainspring barrel forms part of the visible mechanical design and provides an indication of the remaining power reserve.

The movement can be viewed through the transparent sapphire caseback, allowing the mechanical construction to become part of the watch’s visual presentation. A Pop Art-inspired print adds a playful finishing detail to the rear of the watch.

When winding the watch, turn the crown carefully and stop when resistance increases. Do not force the crown after the movement is fully wound.

Swatch Bioceramic Construction

The case, holder, bezel, crown and decorative screws incorporate Swatch’s proprietary Bioceramic material.

Swatch Bioceramic combines two-thirds ceramic with one-third biosourced material derived from castor oil. The composite provides a smooth, silky matte finish while helping the watch remain lightweight and comfortable to carry or wear with compatible Royal Pop accessories.

Sapphire Crystal and Display Caseback

The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, providing enhanced scratch resistance compared with conventional plastic watch crystals.

An anti-reflective coating helps improve dial visibility under different lighting conditions. The transparent sapphire caseback also provides a clear view of the hand-wound SISTEM51 mechanical movement.

Modular Royal Pop Styling

The Bioceramic Royal Pop collection reinterprets the modular concept of Swatch’s original POP watches. The watch module can be removed from its holder and used with compatible Royal Pop accessories.

Depending on the selected accessory, OCHO NEGRO can be worn around the neck, carried in a pocket, attached to a bag or fitted to a compatible wrist strap or bracelet.
