Gold & Silver Scrap Metal Calculator UK
Estimate the indicative intrinsic value of gold or silver in GBP from weight and purity. This calculator covers precious metals, not industrial base metals such as copper, brass, aluminium or steel.
The figure is an indicative intrinsic metal value, not a guaranteed purchase offer. Branded, signed, gemstone-set, antique or collectable pieces may be worth more than their metal content.

Understand the number
Spot price, intrinsic value and dealer offers are different
Spot price is a market reference for fine precious metal, commonly quoted per troy ounce. Intrinsic value estimates the pure precious-metal content after applying purity. A dealer offer is a commercial transaction price and can also reflect testing, refining, handling, market risk and margin.
Transparent methodology
How the calculator works
Weights entered as troy ounces are converted using 1 troy oz = 31.1034768g before purity is applied. Read the full precious-metal calculator methodology.
Whole-item value
Could your jewellery be worth more than scrap?
Raw metal value is only one component of value. Signed or branded jewellery, luxury watches, diamond or gemstone-set pieces, antique and period jewellery, unusual craftsmanship, coins and collectable objects can command a premium above intrinsic metal content.
